+ MUSIC: XV - SPOTLIGHT ON X 'to the' V
Kansas rapper XV (AKA "Vizzy" AKA "X to the V") has been busy at work on his debut album "The Kid With The Green Backpack". However he hasn't been leaving the people empty handed, dropping a couple of new tracks on his twitter over the past couple of weeks - "Foreign Exchange Student" and "SmallVille". Audio stream/download links and further information on the tracks after the jump.
The first track entitled "Foreign Exchange Student" has an Australian connection with XV dropping bars over the track "Holidays" from Melbourne indie-electro outfit Miami Horror. Surprisingly XV rhymes don't seem out of place over the electro backing track and this is real feel good, party starter.

The second track "Smallville" features production from one of the most talked about up and coming rappers in the world today, J. Cole who's really been stepping up his production game of late. Cole incorporates a haunting Smashing Pumpkins sample from the track "To Forgive" which creates the perfect soundscape for XV to flex on with some of his trademark wordplay. This track is the complete opposite to Foreign Exchange Student as we hear XV reminisce on his Hip-Hop path thus far while emphasising that this is just the beginning of his journey.

Both very solid tracks from a young Hip-Hop artist who is another one to keep an eye on. The Kid With The Green Backpack is scheduled to drop sometime in 2011, however in the meantime download XV's lastest mixtape "Vizzy Zone" for free below -
